Our pond was installed by a local company here in Ottawa. The owner implied that once you have a pond, you'll want another one - and he is right. We love our our pond and are talking about installing another one.

Our pond looked lovely for the 1st couple of weeks, but as we are in full sun and have no trees, the algae was starting to have affects on the pond. We managed to keep the pond under control the first summer, but just couldn’t manage it the next summer. We tried a lot of different products but with no results. We emptied the pond several times, but the algae kept coming back. The following spring we planted many water lilies to keep the sun out, but in the interim, we did some research to help keep the algae to a minimum until we got the full pond coverage recommended. Well – we were able to accomplish this and the pond looked great!

As I worked in the pond, my wife kept teasing me that she had her very own ''pond boy'. Several times she mentioned that it would be a good career change for me, so after a few weeks we were off to 'POND College' in Chicago and that was my start into the world of ‘pond installations and maintenance’.
